CBEFAA announces alumni scholarship winners

The Cut Bank Education Foundation and Alumni Association (CBEFAA) is very pleased to announce the individuals selected to receive alumni scholarships this year. The applications received for these scholarships were of exceptional quality, making the decisions very difficult on the various selection committees.

The CBEFAA Alumni Scholarship is awarded this year to Naomi Light, CBHS Class of 2005. Light attends Minnesota State University - Moorhead in Moorhead, Minn. and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology with a concentration in pre-medical studies.

The Neil Johnson Memorial Scholarship this year is awarded to Lindsey Geer, CBHS Class of 2005, who attends MSU-Bozeman. Geer is pursuing a Chemical Engineering degree. Her long term goal is to work as a chemical engineer following graduation and after a few years in the work force go back and obtain her Master's in Business Administration.

The Competition Wireline Services Alumni Scholarship is awarded to Briana Wipf, CBHS Class of 2005. Wipf will be a senior at Carroll College and is pursuing a Bachelor's in English with a concentration in writing.

The Patrick and Toni Montalban Family Scholarship is awarded this year to Kyle Lewis, CBHS Class of 2005. Lewis will be a senior at Montana Tech this fall. He is majoring in Electrical Engineering.

The Cut Bank Education Association (CBEA) is awarding two scholarships this year. One is awarded to Melissa Meuchel, CBHS Class of 2007. She will be a sophomore at the University of Montana and is majoring in elementary education with an emphasis in mathematics.

The second scholarship is awarded to Ashley Walburger, CBHS Class of 2006. She will be attending Montana Tech's College of Technology pursuing her degree in Radiology.

There are five Elma and David Epstein Memorial Scholarships to be awarded to alumni this year. The first scholarship is awarded to Meuchel.

The second Epstein Scholarship is awarded to Levi Kimmet, CBHS Class of 2007. Kimmet is attending Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. He is seeking a Bachelor Degree in Music Education.

Ashley Koepke, CBHS Class of 2007, is the recipient of the third Epstein Scholarship. Koepke will be a sophomore at the University of Great Falls where she is majoring in Secondary Education and Broadfield Sciences.

The fourth Epstein Scholarship was awarded to Kate Minnis, CBHS Class of 2007. Minnis will be a sophomore at MSU-Billings where she is majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in math.

The final Epstein Scholarship was awarded to Dezerae Lorash, CBHS Class of 2006. She is pursuing a degree in education with an emphasis in math and science. She currently attends Blackfeet Community College.

This year's recipient of the R. Paul Kleinsmith Memorial Alumni Scholarship is Shelly Wipf, CBHS Class of 2000. Shelly Wipf is a graduate of St. Olaf College and is currently attending Des Moines University, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.

The CBEFAA is very proud and grateful to have community members who are so willing to invest in the future of our young people through their establishment of scholarships. These exceptional young people are proof that an investment in the education of our students are dollars never wasted!
