The Lewis and Clark Festival is on track for another fun year of excitement. A busy agenda is planned for this year. To participate in all of these events and stay out of the jail, $3 Lewis and Clark Festival buttons are available at the following local businesses: DrugMart, Connectronics Radio Shack, Cut Bank Building Service, Stockman Bank, Bank of Glacier County, 1st Liberty Federal Credit Union, The Den, BJ's, the Cut Bank Pioneer Press and the Western Breeze. The proceeds from the buttons help fund the Lewis and Clark Festival activities.

Friday, July 16

9:30 a.m. - Line-up for the Pet and Doll Parade, sponsored by Stockman Bank, will be starting in the east parking lot of the Stockman Bank.

10 a.m. - The Pet and Doll Parade will head down Main Street. At the conclusion, Stockman Bank will be giving out balloons, and Cut Bank IGA has donated popsicles for the participants. Judges will award first, second and third place awards. Bring bikes, pets, dolls, friends or whatever it takes to make an impression.

Noon - Larry Epstein will be hosting his Lewis and Clark Site Tour once again. Participants are asked to meet at the Glacier County Historical Society Museum and bring $30 to pay for access to the various sites. Call Epstein at 873-2277, ext. 12, by Wednesday, July 14, to register.

Noon - Craft and food vendors will be open and will feature a wide variety of items including jewelry, ropes and kites. Don't foget to check out the great tasting food that will be available all day. To set up a booth, call Cheryl Robinson at 873-2213.

Noon - The chili cook-off is back with a blast off start at noon. See related article for more information.

5 p.m. - Chili judging will be held at 5 p.m. with the public invited to taste the chili immediately following. The cost is $2 for an all-you-can-eat bowl and spoon.

5-8 p.m. - The Burger Barn will open and serve burgers in the City Park.

6 p.m. - Erik Fingers Ray will kick off the weekend's entertainment with his famous one-man band.

8 a.m. - Craft and food vendors will be open once again for another day of good deals and great food.

9:30 a.m. - The main Lewis and Clark Festival Parade will begin lining up on the east end of Cut Bank.

10:30 a.m. - With the Parade Marshall Pastor Gerry Ebelt and his wife, Cathy, at the helm, the Lewis and Clark Parade will head down Main Street at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Ebelt has been influential in the passing of the Nursing Home Bond issue and insuring NRMC continues to stay open. He has continued to be dedicated to the Lutheran church and its youth group.

Noon - The Burger Barn will open for another day of brisk business in the City Park.

12:30 p.m. - Mayor Marion Culleton will welcome the crowd to the Lewis and Clark Festival and kick off the afternoon's entertainment with the flag presentation and singing of the National Anthem.

1-5:30 p.m. - Fun activities for children will be held in the park, including a football toss and bobbing for apples. A horseshoe tournament sponsored by Pioneer Bar and Scoreboards will be held in the park for those looking for further entertainment.

Cut Bank's Junior Miss and Montana National Teenage winner, Naomi Light, will be taking to the stage along with Dani Presnell and Kayla McKelvey. Jean's School of Dance will entertain the crowd with ten numbers throughout the afternoon. More talented entertainment is needed, along with someone willing to emcee and do the stage lighting. To help with this call Shawn Campbell at 873-5631 (days).
